On my first day at Wizard World Austin Comic Con, I saw something that I thought was pretty amazing. Life size models of Thor, Superman, Iron Man, and Captain Kirk, all made from Legos. I saw the banner that read “Celebrity Artist Evan Bacon”. Now I had seen pictures of giant Lego models before, but never actually up close like this. I asked one of the kids working the booth if he was Evan and he confirmed. I immediately asked for a quick interview in which he agreed.
Evan Bacon started creating giant Lego models at the age of thirteen. When we chatted on Friday, it was his sixteenth birthday. Evan celebrated by dazzling those in attendance with his personal creations. Evan has beta tested for Lego Universe and has been contracted to create two models by E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), the annual video and computer game trade fair. A typical model that Evan might put together will usually contain around 20,000 Legos and weigh around 100 pounds.
