Warner Bros gestures hypnotically, brings in comic actor to play classic magician hero.
It’s not a trick or illusion! Arguably the first superhero ever created, The Tracking Board has reported that Sacha Baron Cohen will play Mandrake The Magician in the new Warner Bros film based on the classic Kings Feature Syndicate comic strip created by Lee Falk in 1934. The film will be directed by Etan Cohen (Get Hard) with David Peoples, Janet Peoples and Tom Wheeler (Puss In Boots) sharing writing duties.
The film will also feature Lothar (Mandrake’s companion and strongest man on Earth), and with reports that the villain in the film will be Mandrake’s twin brother (Derek), it makes sense that Cohen would play both roles. An early plot synopsis suggests that the film will be set in the 21st century with Mandrake being recruited by the United States government for a classified mission.
