Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey, and Jordie Bellaire have put their brains back together to give us INJECTION from Image Comics. INJECTION delivers a scintillating first issue that is jam-packed with what comic readers have come to expect from the award-winning team of Ellis, Shalvey, and Bellaire. Not since Moon Knight from Marvel Comics have the two great talents joined forces, and this time the team is taking it back to their roots, Great Britain. INJECTION is sure to deliver exactly what you need.
I’ve come to recognize Warren Ellis’ prose after reading his work over the last several years. There’s a particular voice that comes to my mind when I begin to read his pages. Part ominous, part confident, but entirely and completely British. This voice really aided in my enjoyment of reading the first issue of INJECTION. Now, I’m not saying that you need to read this book with a British accent, but it couldn’t hurt. Nevertheless, Ellis really provides the reader with a brief British history lesson alongside the character introductions. Add to this the wonderfully emphatic style of Declan Shalvey and you have what is sure to be another rousing success from Image Comics.
Believe what you would like about the comic industry, but there is still plenty of room to tell original, thoughtful, enticing, and kick-ass original stories. I laud Image Comics for their continued commitment to giving creators like Ellis and Shalvey the platform necessary to create such memorable work. Do yourself a favor today; get up from your desk, get over to your LCS, pick up INJECTION #1, read it, twice, and then go back to work (or don’t, it’s really up to you). Trust me, you’ll be glad you did. I know I will. Happy reading everyone!
