I LOVED LOVED LOVED Dead Island, however; it had some serious glitches if you were playing with anyone other than yourself. Seriously if I was playing with 3 or 4 other people heaven forbid we go in the sewer because one of us was getting booted from the game. Several of my friends and I also had our save files corrupted on a number of occasions and had to start over, that being said I truthfully don’t know that I ever actually beat the first Dead Island in its entirety, and I didn’t play Riptide at all. Regardless when it worked I really enjoyed the game. So I was very excited to hear that we were getting a second one.
This time Yager Development is taking a stab at it since Techland, that developed the first one, is working on Dying Light with Warner Brothers. I must say from the trailer that was released at E3 it looks like they are ditching the very serious tone the first one took for a more humors “it totally sucks that zombies are taking over California and murdering everyone” type tone. I think this setting is more appropriate for moving the outbreak to the US, because seriously if zombies were attacking California you can’t say it wouldn’t be at least a little bit funny to see all the ridiculous blonde overly tan residents and like Kim Kardashian as zombies…I don’t’ know maybe it’s just me. ANYWAY let’s talk more about the game.
This title takes place after the events of Banoi from the first game. The United States has put all of California under strict quarantine, because ya know the Zombie outbreak, and now everyone who refused to leave is stuck fighting for their lives. You get to shoot, punch, run over, mutilate, and bash the brains out of hundreds of flesh-eating douche bags. You once again get to construct your own weapons out of whatever resources you find, so fingers crossed for some sort of fan blade baseball bat that electrocutes people and covers them in some sort of fire acid! The rage system is also back so get ready to go batballs crazy on the living dead when your meter is full.
In the new title we get a much more brutal fighting system and also get to take on some more deadly and aggressive zombie types. This game is set for a spring 2015 release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, though I feel a push back coming because that’s what happens these days.
