Batman is back at it in the new title from Rocksteady and I couldn’t be more excited!! This time our favorite caped crusader has to take on my favorite fear inducing villain Scarecrow who is out to unite all of Gotham’s most notorious enemies as a final stand to finally take down our beloved Dark Knight.
We saw a great downfall of some very iconic foes in Arkham City (I’ll leave this spoiler free though if you haven’t played you are seriously failing.) so I had my suspicions about how they could possible make this story as dramatic and epic as is predecessor, but after watching the E3 trailer and reading about the advancements this game makes, I have no doubt we will once again face an emotional and exciting story till the very last scene.
Kevin Conroy is back as Batman so you can expect to feel familiar with the character even if you haven’t played previous games in the series. We also are seeing a return of several pieces of Bat-tech like the grapple gun and detective vision, but in this game you can actually use several things like Batarang’s or the line launcher while flying. We are also seeing an upgraded version of the glide ability so we can acquire more sustained flights, more precise dives, and better climbs, oh and did I mention we FINALLY get to drive the BATMOBILE! YES, we, after much anticipation get to cruise throughout fallen Gotham in one of the most iconic cars in history! Upon examination the driving controls in this game appear almost flawless and the design of the vehicle was created specifically for this title making it to die for. Finally, we get to fully become Batman. This series also introduces us to a brand new character to the Batman Universe. He is called the Arkham Knight and little is known about this mysterious new nemesis who has the ability to match our hero in brains and brute. This all just screams PLOT TWIST!
Though release of this title has been pushed back a couple of times it has finally been announced that we can get our hands on this beaut June 2 of next year. Yes, this is a giant leap from the release it was supposed to have next month, but we can look at this as Rocksteady using the extra time to deliver us a polished and complete version for the grand finale of such a groundbreaking franchise.
Two separate collector’s edition pre-orders were available one for $100 that includes a 12 inch statue of Gotham’s hero along with some other amazing goodies and a $200 dollar special edition that includes a fully transformable model of the Batmobile. The Batmobile version has already sold out and I assume the Batman version is close so I would get it on lock down while you still have an opportunity and I will see you guys next summer on Xbox One & PS4!
