Dark Horse Comics releases The White Suits #1 from Frank J. Barbiere (Five Ghosts) on Wednesday, a series that until a few days ago was not on my comic radar. Fortunately I had the opportunity to read an advance copy of the first issue and it exceeded my expectations. The story begins with the introduction an amnesic with a violent past incapable of recollecting key moments of his life and just so happens to be constantly dreaming about these ghostly figures in white suits. The White Suits in violent fashion have been ridding the city of the criminal faction one territory at a time in an apparent power move. Meanwhile, a mysterious female who has been following our protagonist may just hold the key to his past.
Barbiere is taking us into a dark and violent world with the start of this four issue series. His story-telling abilities continue to impress, always leaving readers wanting more. The story is brilliantly enhanced by the illustrations of Toby Cypress (Predator). His choice and mix of black, white and variations of red absolutely gives the book a distinct visual element that just stands out page after page.
You can purchase issue one and pre-order issue two from tfaw comics.
