STAN LEE ‘THE GENERALISSIMO’ COMING TO THE ALAMO CITY.
Alamo City Comic Con announced this morning that Stan Lee, the legendary Marvel writer, former President, and former Editor-in-Chief will be a featured guest of honor and is scheduled to appear September 26 – 28 (all three days) at the convention which is less than three months away. Lee still serves as a member of the editorial board at Marvel and remains their Chairman Emeritus. He also is currently the Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of POW! Entertainment, a multimedia entertainment company that creates and licenses intellectual properties in film, television, publishing, merchandising, and many other areas.
Along with other early Marvel pioneers, Stan Lee co-created many pop-culture icons like Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron-Man, X-Men, and The Fantastic Four. Lee has also collaborated with non-profit, educational, and art organizations to create the Stan Lee Foundation, which is committed to providing an accessible gateway to literacy, education, and the arts throughout the nation.
Lee first started his comic career back in 1939 when he served as an assistant with Timely Comics. Two years later he began his earliest published work with the once titled Captain America Comics and went on to co-create his first character ‘Destroyer’ who first appeared in Mystic Comics #6 in 1941. Later that year, Joe Simon left Timely Comics and Lee was made the interim editor, and the rest as they say is history.
Born Stanley Martin Lieber in 1922, he was raised and went to school in New York and later joined the United States Army in 1942. Lee is credited with co-creating hundreds of characters and has been inducted to both the Jack Kirby and Will Eisner Hall of Fame.
