Cosplay At Alamo City Comic Con: A Chat With Nadyasonika
Last year one of my first interviews at Alamo City Comic Con was with international cosplayer Nadyasonika. I did not ask too many questions and just had her talk about what she does, but I did include an article about her and the role of cosplay in geek/pop culture. I ran into her on Saturday last weekend and had the opportunity to do a follow-up.
Nadya, who hails from Cd. Juarez is certainly not a one-dimensional representative of geek culture, as her passions go beyond cosplay. She just recently began live video game streaming, and loves horror games (The Witcher being her favorite). If gaming wasn’t enough, she also collects comics in hardcover trades and toy figures. In the video she talks Game of Thrones and Guardians of the Galaxy, and tells us why Seattle is one of her favorite cities to visit. She also discusses why her Mystique cosplay is often mistaken for a Smurf or Daft Punk.
Nadya has no plans on slowing down with her cosplay either, as she has a busy convention schedule planned for the rest of the year, including a stop at New York Comic Con. I had a fantastic time visiting with her again and look forward to her return to the Alamo City.
